Press Clubs Condemn the Terrorist Attack in Paris

World
 07 Jan 2015   IAPC

The European Press Clubs Federation and International Association of Press Clubs expressed its shock and indignation at the terrorist attack on the office of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris. “Freedom of the press and freedom of expression are highly cherished values in any civilized society”, said Uri Dromi, President of the European Federation. “If journalists are coerced through terror to suppress their opinion, then the very essence of democracy is shattered”. The Federation called upon the French Government to bring the assailants to justice, and urged spiritual and religious leaders to promote among their followers respect for the freedom of the press and tolerance towards other views.
